I came to design from the other side of the handoff.

.introduction
I studied computer science and started my career in software development. I liked understanding how products worked, but I was more interested in the decisions that came before the build: what someone was trying to do, where the experience broke down, and what the interface needed to make clearer.
That led me to product design at Lynkwell, where I worked on dashboards, maps, and operational tools for EV-charging teams. I turned dense system information and complicated workflows into clearer paths for the people using them.
Today, my work is firmly on the design side: research, user flows, visual UI, prototyping, testing, and handoff. My software background still earns its keep—it helps me catch edge cases and collaborate with engineers without turning the handoff into a guessing game.

.how I work
I don't start with screens.
I start by finding where the confusion actually lives—through user conversations, workflow mapping, and questioning the request before I touch the interface.
Find the snag.
01
Before changing the interface, I look for the point where people hesitate, lose context, or take an unnecessary detour. That is usually where the useful design work begins.

Make the next move obvious.
02
I use structure, hierarchy, interaction, and visual design to help people understand where they are, what matters, and what they should do next.

Stay close to the build.
03
I bring product and engineering in early, design around real constraints, and stay involved through implementation so the original idea doesn’t get lost in handoff.

A few steps along the way.
2025 — Present
Sarah's Web Studio
Independent UI/UX & Web Designer
I lead healthcare and automotive website projects from discovery through launch, shaping the structure, navigation, responsive interface, and reusable visual system around each business’s goals and its customers’ needs.

2023 — 2025
Lynkwell
UI/UX Designer
I designed data-heavy dashboards, maps, and operational workflows for EV-charging products. I worked with users, stakeholders, product managers, and engineers to make system status, diagnostic information, and next actions easier to understand.

Nisum
UI Intern → Software Developer
I started by designing interface components and interaction flows before moving into software development. That experience gave me a practical understanding of technical constraints, responsive behavior, edge cases, and what engineers need from design.
